![]() Daniel Johnson is a former Premier of Quebec. He was first elected to the National Assembly of Quebec in the riding of Vaudreuil-Soulanges in 1981. In 1985, he became the Quebec Minister of Industry. He was Chairman of the Treasury Board from June 1988 until January 1994, when he became leader of the Quebec Liberal Party, and Premier of Quebec until September 1994, following the resignation of Robert Bourassa. Johnson served as Leader of the Opposition and Liberal party leader until 1998. Since then, he has acted as Senior Counsel with the law firm McCarthy Tétrault LLP. He is also a director of Bombardier Inc., IGM Financial Inc., The Investors Group Inc., Mackenzie Financial Corporation, and is Chairman of the Board of Victhom Human Bionics in Quebec City. He is also a member of the Bank of Canada's board of directors. |
