Catherine Richards is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles with a BA in Music (Vocal Performance). In the last 30 years she has made a career in music as a performer, writer, arranger, musical director and radio producer.

During the years she was the Artistic Director of the CBC Radio Choir (2000-03) she wrote, arranged and produced many concerts which uniquely combined choral music with spoken word performances. A particular favourite was the “Irish Celebration” at Oscar Petersen Concert Hall in April of 2003 which was co-produced by Concordia University to benefit Canadian Irish Studies. The programme highlighted the Irish influence on the history and culture of Québec, and featured outstanding performances by many local musicians and actors, as well as the CBC radio hosts and choir. The programme has enjoyed continued popularity, and has been broadcast nationally by CBC Radio. A copy of the programme CD is in the archive of the Famine Museum in Roscommon, Ireland.

Over the years, Catherine has been active in the community, and has served on many boards and school committees with particular emphasis on public policy and fundraising efforts relating to the arts and the environment.
